JUDE WHITE

Jude White is a painter, printmaker and textile artist.

Whites' work is primarily influenced by Australia’s natural environment, the challenges it faces and the loss of wild places.

Early in her career, Jude had a textile design label 'Lizard of Oz' and completed several artist residencies in Melbourne.

She has worked extensively in the Indigenous Arts sector.

Recent partnerships have been with Injalak Arts & Crafts and Ikuntji Artists, assisting in the creation of repeat textile designs.

After a hiatus in her arts practice, Jude’s current work reflects the colours, shapes and textures of the landscape through painting, botanical dyeing, printmaking, collage and cloth.

She uses a combination of materials and techniques on large scale paper and silks. In her work she aims to invoke a deep devotion of this sacred land and inspire others to appreciate and care for it.

acknowledgment

I acknowledge the beautiful Bundjalung people of the country I live and work.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of all the places and communities in which I work. I pay my respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

My work celebrates the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities, who also work and live on this land.

Permission and consent has been sort for all photographs and content on this website that depict Indigenous Australians and their artwork.

I acknowledge my white privilege and I am mindful of the white colonial lens, in which I was raised.

I strive to understand and work in ways that are culturally sensitive and address 'white blindness'.
I am deeply grateful for my opportunities to work, learn and form relationships with Indigenous artists.
